Emergency Home Repair Program

 

Who is Eligible:

Clayton County residents 62 years of age or older, disabled person or a veteran who have lived in their principal residence for the last 5 years. Participants must meet the household income requirement as determined by HUD guidelines and income does not exceed 50% the area medium income.

  • Individuals may apply for this program year-round.
  • Qualified participants may apply once every 12 months

 

Eligible Property:

• Clear of any liens.
• Current on existing mortgage.
• Home owner’s insurance in place.
• Owner-occupied single family detached dwelling located in Clayton County.
• No condos, townhouses, mobile homes, multi-family properties.

 

Eligible Repairs

• Roof – Must be a complete failed roof, not a roof leak
• Plumbing – The main sewer and water lines from the house to the street, water heaters or lack any working bathroom
• Electrical – Power company connection to the main panel
• Heat and Air
• Handicap Accessible Improvements (ADA) – Eligible repairs for the Emergency program are ramps
Only one (1) Eligible Repair per application

 

Eligible Repair will address issues that pose a threat to the welfare of the homeowner and/or affects the livability of the home.
